Monaco Face Early Crisis over Ansu Fati's Fitness Before Ligue 1 Kickoff
French side AS Monaco could face major early season setback as doubts grow over the availability of Ansu Fati, the Spanish forward on loan from Barcelona.
Fati joined Monaco on season long loan ahead of the 2025 /26 campaign after Barca boss Hansi Flick deemed him surplus to requirements. Before the move, Barcelona extended Fati’s contract signalling long term plans despite the temporary exit.
The 21 year old has missed all 6 of Monaco’s pre season matches due to lack of fitness & sharpness. Head coach Adi Hutter's now admitted that Fati is unlikely to be ready for the club’s Ligue 1 opener.
In quotes carried by Marca, Hutter said:
"Fati's presence for the opening game? It's complicated. I want him back as soon as possible but we must be careful"
"Rushing him back could lead to setbacks. He needs time to regain form and integrate with the squad"
