AS Monaco are open to retaining Sunderland’s Simon Adingra and Leicester City’s Wout Faes, both of whom joined on loan during the January transfer window. However, as per a report from L’Équipe, the Principality club want to renegotiate the terms.
Faes joined from Leicester City, since relegated from the EFL Championship to League One. His loan deal included a buy option worth €7.5m. Monaco have been happy with what Faes has brought, however, failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, coupled with the deteriorating TV rights situation in French football, mean that funds are limited. Another loan is a possibility, even despite the Belgian’s contract with the Foxes expiring next summer.
Another loan for Adingra is also a possibility. The deal that saw him join the Principality club included a buy option of €17m, however, that fee is too high for Les Monégasques to trigger. Talks are expected to take place to see on what terms Adingra and Faes can be retained.
