Is the tide turning at AS Monaco? Whilst the Principality club still have just one win in their last nine Ligue 1 games, and have only beaten US Orléans in 2026, there is perhaps room for optimism, following the club’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League play-offs.
That came thanks to a draw against Juventus on Wednesday, which itself came after a 0-0 draw away to Le Havre AC the previous weekend. The rot was stopped and Monaco rediscovered some defensive stability. “The commonality with those two games was the mindset,” said Sébastien Pocognoli in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
Asked if he spoken to the club’s directors following that UCL qualification, the Belgian responded, “I have felt [their] support since the first day that I arrived. From the first day, bringing me here and believing in me, by bringing me in mid-season, was a strong gesture, one that I deserve thanks to my work in Belgium (with Union Saint-Gilloise).“
He added, “The work is intense and considered. There are mentalities to change, mentalities that we are changing little by little. I have the support because I am doing the work that needs to be done on a daily basis. I’m being given time because we are doing the maximum. I feel the support from everyone, the supporters and the players included.”
