Wissam Ben Yedder has been rested for AS Monaco’s trip to face Rouen in the Coupe de France on Thursday, with a derby against OGC Nice coming up on Sunday.
Adi Hütter seemingly has Sunday’s Côte d’Azur derby in mind already. Ben Yedder has been prolific in recent weeks, however, he will not feature at all against Rouen. Instead, it will almost certainly be Folarin Balogun, who has returned from a shoulder injury, who will get the nod. The USMNT forward is the only experienced attacker in the squad.
Mohamed Camara also returns from Monaco. The midfielder rejoined his teammates on Wednesday having returned from the Africa Cup of Nations. The Malian international has been included in the travelling squad, but it remains to be seen whether it will be too early to deploy him.
However, there was one bit of bad news for Les Monégasques. Krépin Diatta, who has only just returned from the AFCON, has suffered a psoas injury and will likely be absent for several weeks.
