Monaco are weighing up activating the 11 million euros purchase option for Ansu Fati, with the forward open to staying, but salary terms remain the key hurdle.

According to L'Équipe, the clause was agreed with Barcelona, and Fati remains contracted to the Catalan club until June 2028. Monaco currently cover 250,000 euros net per month, roughly half his Barcelona wages.

Assuming his full salary would be onerous for the Principality side. By comparison, the club’s best-paid players, Eric Dier and Denis Zakaria, earn 330,000 euros net monthly.

Any agreement is likely to hinge on substantial negotiations, potentially involving a lower fixed wage than in Catalonia, supplemented by sizeable performance bonuses.

A meeting with the player’s entourage is due within the next 15 days to assess whether a deal is realistic. If not, Fati still has one month to further impress.
