Monaco will face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, with the Principality club's CEO warning the draw is not ideal for French football.
According to Get French Football News, Monaco advanced by drawing with Juventus, while PSG missed the top eight after being held by Newcastle United at the Parc des Princes.
There was a 50/50 chance the French clubs would be paired. PSG could have faced Qarabag, and Monaco could have drawn Newcastle United. Instead, as last season when the reigning Champions League holders drew Stade Brestois in the play-offs, the outcome is an all-French tie.
Speaking at Friday's draw, CEO Scuro said the pairing was not ideal for the UEFA coefficient or for the chances of two French clubs progressing. He also called it an important moment in the league.
The sides have already met in Ligue 1 this season, Monaco winning 1-0 in November through Takumi Minamino.
Monaco will host the first leg at the Stade Louis II, before the return at the Parc des Princes.
