Gazzetta suggests that Monaco are exploring a move for Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, with Atlanta United and Trabzonspor also interested. The Belgian is said to prefer continuing his career in Europe.
With Folarin Balogun potentially leaving, Monaco are said to have made the former Everton striker a leading target. A fee of around €10m could be eased by an extremely strained relationship between Lukaku and the club’s management.
Lukaku, 33, has endured a difficult campaign disrupted by injuries. He has played only 64 minutes across seven matches.
Even so, his World Cup with the Red Devils was more positive, producing three goals and one assist in six appearances.
Monaco’s plans could hinge on Balogun’s situation and the level of competition for the striker’s signature.
