Get French Football News understands that AS Monaco’s Chrislain Matsima (21) will conclude a loan move to Clermont Foot on transfer deadline day.
After days of negotiations, Monaco and Clermont have now reached an agreement for Matsima to join relegation-threatened Clermont on loan until the end of the season. The deal does not include the option to make the loan a permanent transfer. Matsima will therefore return to the Principality club at the end of the season, with the France U21 international’s contract with Les Monégasques running until the summer of 2026.
Matsima, who spent the first half of the 2022/23 season on loan at FC Lorient, has played just seven games in all competitions this season, accumulating 387 minutes of gametime. However, the arrivals of Mohammed Salisu and especially Wilfred Singo have limited Matsima’s first-team opportunities. With Alidu Seidu completing his move to Stade Rennais, Matsima will be hoping to gain plenty of Ligue 1 experience with Pascal Gastien’s side, who are currently 17th in France’s top-flight.
