Monaco’s Folarin Balogun attracting Premier League interest

After two sub-par seasons at the Principality, Folarin Balogun (24) has grown in stature at AS Monaco in recent months and he could now be set for a departure, according to a report from L’Équipe.

His first season with Monaco found him in competition for a place in the team with club captain at the time, Wissam Ben Yedder. The USMNT international, therefore, struggled to solidify a place in the starting XI. When Ben Yedder left the next summer, Balogun was expected to fill the void, however, he was hindered by injuries. When he did return, right towards the end of the season, Mika Biereth was in red-hot form and could not be taken out of the team.

It is a case of third time lucky for Balogun, who, beyond his 15 goals and five assists in 36 games in all competitions, has become a much more rounded forward and one increasingly valuable in build-up. That has not been lost on Premier League sides, who are following him very closely, L’Équipe understands.
