Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche (23) has hinted that a future move to the Premier League could be on the cards, as his side prepares to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday, Sky Sports reports.
The 23-year-old French international was linked with Spurs during the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting the North London club viewed him as a potential target before eventually signing Xavi Simons. Speaking ahead of the high-profile clash, Akliouche described the speculation as “very flattering” but reiterated his focus on his current club.
“It was flattering to have those kinds of links,” he said. “But I am a Monaco player and tomorrow I’ll give my best. As for the Premier League in the future? Why not, but we’ll see. For now, the important thing is tomorrow’s game.”
Akliouche, who has scored twice this season, is expected to play a key role for Monaco as they look to strengthen their position in the group. When asked about any added pressure facing a team once interested in him, the attacker was dismissive: “I’m focused on my performance and on helping the team win. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
