With just a week to go before the start of the new Ligue 1 season, AS Monaco have suffered a significant blow to their preparation. L’Équipe reports that their starting goalkeeper, Radoslaw Majecki (24) has suffered an ankle injury that will likely see him sidelined for up to two months.
This means that Majecki will not only miss the start of the new campaign which begins on Saturday for the Principality when they host AS Saint-Étienne, but he will also be absent for the club’s return to Europe with the Champions Leagues set to begin for Monaco in five weeks time.
Monaco will once again have to rely on Philipp Köhn (26) for the immediate future. Köhn had been the starting keeper for Monaco until midway through the season when it appeared as if he had lost the confidence of the manager Adi Hütter. At the time, Hütter had stated, “I think the change was very important because we spoke with Köhn too; he brought us some doubts. Majecki was always at the same level.”
