After two matchdays, AS Monaco have just one point on the board in the UEFA Champions League. Ahead of Wednesday night’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, new manager Sébastien Pocognoli says there is no “urgency” to get points on the board.

“I don’t think that there is an urgency. It’s true that starting with a defeat against Club Brugge means that we have used up our ‘joker’, but the campaign is long,” began the new Monaco manager in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.

He added, “If I can draw a parallel to my European experience last season (with Union Saint-Gilloise), we started with two points from 12 and ended up qualifying for the UEFA Europa League play-offs. I know that a difficult start doesn’t necessarily mean an unhappy ending. I don’t think that the match [against Tottenham] will be definitive, be it positive or negative.”

Heading into tonight’s game, Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in the Champions League (one win, one draw).
