Manchester United will host Brentford tonight, aiming to strengthen their grip on third place in the Premier League.
As far as qualification for next season’s Champions League is concerned, United find themselves in a very comfortable position, and the result against Brentford is unlikely to have a major impact on which competition the Mancunians play in next season.
While United are looking forward to next campaign, setting ambitious targets, Leicester City have hit rock bottom. A report suggests the Red Devils could make things worse for the Foxes.
According to journalist Paddy Keogh, Manchester United will “look to take advantage” of Leicester City’s relegation to League One this summer and sign Jeremy Monga, Louis Page, and Olabade Aluko.
The trio are among the most promising talents to come through Leicester’s youth setup. Interestingly, Monga, Page and Aluko have all been handed senior debuts in the last 12 months.
Monga, 16, is a winger who combines lightning-quick feet and sharp decision-making to make a difference in the final third.
Teenage midfield sensation Page has a stellar left foot and the ability to play between the lines. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Aluko, an England U20 international, is a highly rated right-back.
Monga has been the most prominent first-team player among the three, having made 26 appearances in the Championship this term. However, United are likely targeting them for their academy.
Posting on X, Keogh added: “Jeremy Monga has been scouted and wanted by Man United since 2023.”
Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are prepared to make a “formal” approach for the wonderkid.
United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who gave Monga his first-team debut in the Premier League last year, hailed the electric winger, stating: “He’s a great winger and has speed. He’s a fantastic talent, a great boy. He deserved these minutes and hopefully, more to come.”
Ineos need to act fast if they want to secure Monga’s services, as it is understood Manchester City and Arsenal are also keen on the England U19 international.
