CF Monterrey have reportedly submitted a formal bid to sign 22-year-old attacking midfielder Brian Gutiérrez from the Chicago Fire, according to the Athletic.
The Fire are understood to have received the offer but are holding out for a higher fee as negotiations continue.

Gutiérrez has developed into one of MLS’s most promising young playmakers, coming off a standout 2025 season in which he registed 11 goals and 4 assists across all competitions.
His recent acquisition of a Mexican passport makes him an attractive option for Monterrey, as he would not count as a foreign player in Liga MX.
The midfielder is under contract with the Fire through 2028 after signing a Homegrown U-22 deal, meaning any transfer would likely require a significant offer.
Monterrey are not the only club interested, with Club América also reportedly tracking the player as his market value continues to rise.
A move to Mexico would mark a major step for Gutiérrez both professionally and internationally.
Although he has already appeared for the U.S. Men’s National Team, he remains eligible to represent Mexico, a possibility that has grown more realistic since securing Mexican citizenship.
