Alvaro Morata has claimed that all AC Milan can do is work harder to be better after they lost 2-0 to Napoli giving themselves a mountain to climb in the title race.
Milan went into the game against Napoli hoping to send a statement that they were still in the Scudetto race, given that the league-leaders arrived with a seven-point advantage over the Rossoneri.
However, it was to be another big game failure as Milan limped to a 2-0 defeat, clearly impacted by the absences of Theo Hernandez, Tijjani Reijnders, Matteo Gabbia and Christian Pulisic (who came on in the second half despite suffering flu).
Both of the goals came in the first half for the visitors as Romelu Lukaku got the opener with a typical powerful run and finish, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the advantage just before the break in a half that Milan otherwise dominated.
Morata spoke to Milan TV after the full-time whistle to assess what was a difficult night for the team. MilanNews relayed his comments.
How do you judge that game?
“We played some good minutes. They were more clinical, they managed the game well when they were winning. We played as a team, unfortunately it wasn’t enough. We have to hold on, work hard and think about the next game.”
How are the group?
“We always want to win. We have to give everything on the pitch. The only thing we can do is work even harder. That’s the only thing we have to do.”
