‘More Clarity Is Expected’ On Potential Celtic Swoop Soon | OneFootball

Celtic remain interested in Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis and ‘more clarity is expected’ after the Bhoys play the second leg of their Champions League playoff round tie tonight.

Gineitis made the switch to Torino from fellow Italian outfit SPAL in 2022 and has continued to progress during his time with the Turin club.

The 22-year-old midfielder made 31 appearances in all competitions last season, although a hamstring injury ruled him out for a number of games.

The Lithuania international emerged as a transfer target for Celtic in July, with Torino indicating that Gineitis was not considered ‘unsellable’.

The Scottish giants then firmed up their interest by submitting a €7.5m offer for the midfielder, but Torino turned down the proposal.

Despite seeing their initial bid rejected, Celtic have continued to push for the 22-year-old, as the Bhoys ‘remain persistent’ in their desire to sign him.

It was suggested last week that the Hoops were ‘applying pressure’ to sign the Lithuanian midfielder.

Now, according to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, Celtic remain interested in Gineitis and ‘more clarity is expected’ over the situation after the Bhoys play their Champions League playoff game tonight.

It was recently suggested that the Hoops intend to ‘dive in’ for the Torino star’s signature if they qualify for the Champions League league phase.

The Scottish giants are currently ahead by three goals on aggregate against Austrian side LASK Linz, giving Celtic a strong advantage heading into the playoff game.

It remains to be seen how strongly Celtic will pursue Gineitis should they qualify for the Champions League tonight.

Meanwhile, in a bid to strengthen their defence, the Scottish giants ‘have put the feelers out’ over potential loan deals as they search for a right-back following Alistair Johnston’s injury.
