Liverpool were knocked out of two cup competitions within a week, but they can still end the season on a high by winning the Premier League.
The Reds lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and lost 2-1 to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
Liverpool have nine more games left, and they must aim to win every game to secure the Premier League title.
The international break could not have come at a better time. The players need to reset, and this is also an opportunity for those who are injured to recover quickly.
Arne Slot won’t be happy with the latest update on Conor Bradley, who is currently out injured and will miss the international games with Northern Ireland in March.
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has suggested the 21-year-old is “frustrated” at the moment, and he is unlikely to return to action immediately after the break.
“He’s frustrated, but his initial frustration has kind of subsided a little bit and his focus is on trying to get fit for the end of the season because there is so much to play for,” O’Neill told the Belfast Telegraph.
Liverpool are already missing Trent Alexander-Arnold through injury, and it seems Bradley will not return soon either. Both players, however, are likely to return towards the end of the campaign.
Slot will have to rely on Jarrel Quansah, who is not a natural right-back. The 22-year-old started against Newcastle in the League Cup final, and he is likely to continue after the international break until either Alexander-Arnold or Bradley returns.
Bradley is a terrific talent with immense potential. If Alexander-Arnold leaves the club in the summer, he is likely to play regularly in his place. However, he has developed an uncanny knack for picking up injuries, which should frustrate the Liverpool manager.
