Eric Garcia was one of many Barcelona players who have found themselves as part of Spain’s squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former Manchester City starlet has gotten the nod ahead of Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen, on account of his brilliant 2025/26 season that saw him re-establish himself as a first-team regular at Barcelona.
In light of his inclusion, Garcia took to social media to express his happiness, adding that he is more than prepared for the challenge.
Garcia’s selection marks the first time he has been called up since the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, with his last appearance coming all the way back in 2022. He made sure to mention that.
“December 2022, eliminated from the Qatar World Cup. This was the last time I wore the Spanish national team jersey,” he said.
Garcia was a part of the Spanish setup for the World Cup but did not actually participate in any of the games. His last appearance for La Roja came against Jordan in a friendly before the World Cup.
Now, he is back again and this time around, he is more than prepared to contribute in a big way.

“Since then, I’ve had to make many decisions and work hard behind the scenes to improve, both on and off the field, to get back to playing and competing for everything with my club.
“And now, four years later, the opportunity to experience my second World Cup has arrived,” he said.
Garcia added he is ready for the challenge, stating, “More prepared and motivated than ever to fight for everything with this group of players, and grateful to everyone who supports me and helps me to be better every day! #VamosEspaña.”
