Hemir is reportedly set to return to Sunderland this summer after Moreirense decided against activating a permanent clause in his loan. O Jogo reports that the Portuguese club have been unconvinced by his impact.
The striker made his debut for Moreirense in a 2-0 win at Arouca in November. He scored in a 3-3 draw with Estoril on his fourth appearance, then added a second in a 1-1 draw with Nacional last month.
The 22-year-old was an unused substitute in both of Moreirense’s last two league matches and came on late in a 4-1 defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica last weekend.
Hemir joined Sunderland from Benfica in summer 2023 and made 24 senior appearances before spending most of last season in Juventus’ B team. With first-team minutes scarce on Wearside, a season-long move to Moreirense was agreed in the final week of last summer’s window.
At the time of the loan, then sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said the club believed the move offered the right environment for the next step in his development.
He was an unused substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Porto. A Bola reported this followed inappropriate behaviour before the match.
