Morocco won the bronze medal in men’s football at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday following a thumping 6-0 win over Egypt.

Morocco won their first-ever medal in Olympic football after a dominant showing over Egypt throughout 90 minutes.

The match started on an unfortunate note for the Pharaohs, as midfielder Zizo was forced off with a hamstring injury after 10 minutes.

Knowing their opponents were without a star player, Morocco doubled the pressure, and two goals in three minutes put them in the driving seat.

Abde Ezzalzouli scored a stunning curling effort into the top right corner from the top of the box before Soufiane Rahimi set an Olympic record, becoming the first to score in six consecutive games.

After the break, Egypt struggled to penetrate the Atlas Lions’ defence with only two shots on target by the 70th minute.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s exquisite finishing remained as they scored another four times to make it six goals from six shots on target.

El Khannouss scored a low drive from outside the box, Rahimi secured a brace with his eighth goal in six games and substitute Nakach redirected home another.

The icing on the cake arrived at the death as Achraf Hakimi scored a brilliant free-kick into the top left corner from way downtown.
