With all nine CAF representatives for the 2026 FIFA World Cup having been confirmed, Foot Africa looks at African nations with the most appearances at the global showpiece.

Africa will be represented by South Africa, Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Cape Verde, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Algeria in the expanded World Cup set to be co-hosted by USA, Mexico and Canada.

Despite missing out on automatic qualification, Cameroon lead the way with eight appearances and have a chance to stretch their lead via the play-offs, having finished as one of the four best second-placed teams.

Morocco, in second place, are closing in as they will make it seven appearances in North America next year. Interestingly, the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach the semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

Like their North African counterparts, Tunisia will extend their participation to seven times, while Nigeria remain on six appearances but could still qualify via the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Algeria and Ghana will make their fifth World Cup finals as Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast and South Africa will take their tally up to four appearances.

Rounding up the list is the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Togo, who have all made a solitary appearance in the tournament.
