Juventus coach Thiago Motta feels Andrea Cambiaso ‘always had the idea’ of staying at Juventus despite rumours of a possible January move to Manchester City.
The Italy international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the winter transfer window.
The Premier League giants seemed on the verge of making a formal bid exceeding €60m, but Juventus denied receiving a proposal for the versatile defender.
Motta spoke about the defender during a press conference on Thursday, on the eve of a Serie A match against Como.

“I’m happy he stayed with a great team like Juventus,” said the Italian tactician.
“I think he always had the idea of staying. He won’t be there tomorrow, like Juan, Gleison, and Pierre, but hopefully, he can be back with the team as soon as possible.”
Cambiaso has been training separately at Continassa over the last few days as he recovers from an ankle injury.
The 24-year-old has played 21 matches in Serie A this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He also played six games in the UEFA Champions League, accumulating 485 minutes of play and providing one assist.
His contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2029.
