José Mourinho acknowledged Florentino Pérez’s Real Madrid election win with a two-word response, as his move from Benfica edges closer.

According to Glorioso 1904, after results were confirmed, Pérez’s campaign posted a video declaring victory and Mourinho answered with a brief affirmation in Portuguese.

The Portuguese coach is set to be confirmed as Real Madrid’s new manager, the first major decision by Pérez after securing 65% of the vote. The agreement is complete and contract signing is due in the coming hours.

Real Madrid will pay Benfica 15 million euros to release Mourinho. A previous 7 million euro clause expired on 26 May, and the Madrid club’s election period delayed the move.

With that outcome, Marco Silva is close to being announced as Benfica’s new head coach. The former Fulham manager is aligned with the club on a two-year contract, with an option for a further season.
