Francesco Farioli faces a selection headache before the matchday 25 Clássico at Benfica, with Porto hit by fresh defensive concerns.

According to Record, Jan Bednarek is the latest doubt after suffering a rib cage trauma in the Taça de Portugal semi-final against Sporting, and he missed the start of preparations for the derby.

His issue leaves five players in the medical room, with Wednesday’s session missing Bednarek, Thiago Silva, Nehuén Pérez, Luuk de Jong and Samu. The two forwards will not play again this season.

There could be relief at centre-back, as Thiago Silva has been partially reintegrated in training while still with the medical staff, and could be fit in time for the Luz.

Benfica arrive on a run of four straight league wins and are looking to trim the gap at the top. A few days out, José Mourinho already knows he will be without Fredrik Aursnes due to injury.
