José Mourinho accused Espanyol’s players and supporters of bullying Vinícius after Real Madrid’s agonising win. The Portuguese coach said the treatment of his forward has become excessive.

According to Superdeporte, he stopped short of saying it outright, yet argued the targeting starts from the first minute. He highlighted an early kick from Calatrava, whom Madrid felt could have been sent off.

Manolo González countered that Vinícius should have been dismissed for bookings. Mourinho said the same pattern repeats, opponents take turns fouling him and, if one is booked, a team-mate steps in.

He called it bullying by rivals and the crowd despite a wider anti-bullying era, adding that Vinícius must keep his emotions under control. Mourinho said he even spoke at half-time about reining in any celebration if he scored.

Vinícius was booed throughout by the home fans and heard beach ball chants. On the game, Mourinho felt Madrid’s victory was deserved, while the loss was harsh on Espanyol, who he said did not deserve to be beaten.

He avoided extended comment on the referee. González said he withdrew booked players because he did not trust the official.
