José Mourinho could face a selection headache over right-back Amar Dedic as Benfica prepare for Real Madrid, with his fitness being carefully managed and Ramadan approaching.

A Bola reports that the defender's observance of Ramadan could heighten Mourinho's concern, given the long daytime fasts without food or water that test players' resilience.

After the match against Alverca, Mourinho said Dedic is not at his best, is not completely out, but is carrying problems and must be handled with care. He added that without Dedic it is very hard to find a balanced solution for a game of that level.

The No 17 is expected to begin Ramadan after the meeting with the Merengues, so immediate focus remains on the Madrid tie.

This season for Benfica, Amar Dedic, valued at 15 million euros, has made 32 appearances, 15 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,728 minutes he has one goal and three assists.
