José Mourinho has been handed a timely lift before Benfica’s trip to Santa Clara, with several players stepping up recoveries.
According to Glorioso 1904, the club travel to the Azores for the 22nd round, and the head coach now has more options as players rejoin training.
Right back Alexander Bah has entered the final phase of his return, joining sessions gradually after a setback slowed progress. There is still no short term prospect of selection, and he needs time to regain peak fitness. He has not played this season after rupturing his ACL last February.
Midfielder Richard Ríos is back working with the ball after a traumatic dislocation of his left shoulder suffered against Porto in the Taça de Portugal. He will not be available for the Azores trip, with a possible return aimed at the Real Madrid tie in the Champions League.
Dodi Lukebakio is also training again after fracturing his left ankle in November while on Belgium duty. Only Nuno Félix and João Veloso remain in the treatment room, recovering from knee and shoulder procedures respectively.
Benfica visit Santa Clara on Friday, 13 February at 18h30, at Estádio de São Miguel in the Azores, to face Petit’s team.
