Hours after Benfica’s 0-0 draw at Tondela, José Mourinho marked his son José Mário’s 26th birthday with a celebratory post on Instagram.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Benfica manager wrote that 2-2-2000 was a magical day, wished his son a great 2-2-2026, and added a message of love alongside photos.

José Mário was born while his father was an assistant at Barcelona. He played as a goalkeeper in the youth set-ups of Inter, Canillas and Fulham, and ended his football chapter in 2018.

The draw came four days after Benfica’s 4-2 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League. In the league, they could fall 12 points behind leaders Porto, who also play on Monday against Casa Pia in Rio Maior.

Benfica remain third in the table, five points adrift of Sporting after the latter’s 2-1 home win against Nacional. Tondela sit 17th with 13 points.

Benfica return to action on Sunday, 8 February, against Alverca at Estádio da Luz at 20:30. The fixture is part of matchday 21 of the Liga Portugal Betclic.
