José Mourinho and Benfica are on alert after António Silva was withdrawn with a left foot complaint during the round 26 match at Arouca. According to Glorioso 1904, the incident has left the club uneasy.

The 22-year-old initially tried to continue for a few minutes before making way for Franjo Ivanovic. The Croatian later struck the winner in a 2-1 victory.

Silva’s possible injury is an unwelcome setback for Mourinho, who has often praised having three high-quality centre-backs to call upon. With Nicolás Otamendi having gone off injured in the Clássico against Porto earlier in the week, he could soon be left with only Tomás Araújo as an undisputed option.

This season Silva has made 35 appearances for Benfica, comprising 19 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.

He has played 2,655 minutes and scored one goal. The 22-year-old is valued at 30 million euros.
