Mourinho plays down Diomande fee after Real Madrid’s 4-0 win

José Mourinho urged patience with Yan Diomande and downplayed the striker’s price tag after Real Madrid beat Málaga 4-0.

According to Superdeporte, the Ivorian has not started this season but his minutes have increased, coming on for 20, 15 and 30 minutes across three matches.

Mourinho said the forward must take it step by step, praising his work rate, humility and desire to learn.

He insisted the fee should not dictate Diomande’s development, joking during his press conference that he could not remember whether it was 120 or 130.

After finishing with the media he again asked how much Madrid had paid, which drew laughter, and a journalist replied that it was 130.
