Sunday’s 2-1 win over Alverca took José Mourinho to 55 wins from 65 home matches across his career, and extended Benfica’s Liga unbeaten run to 18.
According to Glorioso 1904, that sequence now spans more than a full round of the championship.
He also maintains a lengthy unbeaten sequence in domestic competitions, and his last league defeat on Portuguese soil dates back to 2001/02, when he was in charge of Porto.
Despite some inconsistency in performances this season, the numbers support his reading of the work being done, reflecting a solid base built over recent weeks that keeps the team aligned with its objectives.
That statistical framing has underpinned his dressing-room message. Mourinho insists the title race remains open and urges continued positive results and pressure on direct rivals through to the end of the campaign.
Benfica face Santa Clara on Friday 13 February at 18:30 at Estádio São Miguel, in the 22nd round of Liga Portugal Betclic.
