Real Madrid are now moving rapidly towards bringing back Jose Mourinho, with growing belief inside the club that the Portuguese coach is the only figure capable of restoring order to a turbulent dressing room.

According to fresh reports from AS, Mourinho’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu is now viewed as a ‘matter of time’ rather than a possibility. 

According to the outlet, the decisive phase of the operation is expected to begin next week, when club president Florentino Perez is scheduled to hold direct talks with the veteran manager.

Real Madrid’s hierarchy have spent weeks analysing multiple managerial possibilities, but the board has reached a clear conclusion. 

Mourinho has emerged as the preferred candidate because of his experience, authority, and ability to immediately take control of difficult dressing rooms.

The club believes the current squad lacks leadership, unity, and competitive balance – issues that have become increasingly visible throughout the campaign. 

Internal tensions, dressing room disagreements, and repeated controversies have only strengthened the feeling that Real Madrid require a manager capable of imposing discipline quickly.

The process towards a reunion reportedly began with Mourinho himself showing openness towards returning to Madrid. 

However, the biggest development has now come from within the club, where the board is said to fully support the idea of bringing him back.

Although no contract has officially been signed yet, both parties already understand what the other wants. 

For now, the operation is mainly being delayed by the fact that the current season has not officially concluded for either side.

Another important factor behind the growing optimism is the improved relationship between Real Madrid and influential agent Jorge Mendes. 

That connection reportedly helped facilitate discussions and reopen communication channels that had previously become strained.

Lastly, the move is also considered achievable financially, as Mourinho’s release clause is believed to stand at around €3 million, a figure Real Madrid view as reasonable given the scale of the problems they are trying to solve.
