São Paulo prosecutors have appealed to annul a ruling that dismissed money laundering and tax allegations against former Corinthians president Andrés Sanchez in the club’s corporate card case. Judge Marcia Mayumi Okoda Oshiro left only an embezzlement count for Sanchez and ex-finance manager Roberto Gavioli last Friday.

According to Blog do Macedo, prosecutor Cassio Roberto Conserino cites concealment and self-laundering, pointing to invoices at Openbox 2 and Fast Shop made out to Aurea Andrade Ramacciotti, a friend of Sanchez, plus two August 2020 spends. He says laundering can stem from routine travel, shopping and meals.

The appeal also revives a tax offence and seeks to nullify the ruling, alleging due process failings after the defence spoke before the complaint, omission of Gavioli’s conduct, and questioning the judge’s impartiality.

The case sits with the court’s Special Chamber to rule on the judge’s suspected bias, while precautionary measures remain. Sanchez and Gavioli are barred from contacting witnesses and club officials, cannot travel abroad without permission, and face a freeze of up to R$ 480,169.60.

Sanchez’s lawyers said the sealed case will be answered in due course and noted the court had already rejected laundering and tax counts. They say prosecutors simply selected other expenses, some not requested back by Corinthians, so the second complaint was consistent with the court’s stance. An initial complaint in October saw laundering and tax allegations rejected, a decision later suspended after a recusal motion.
