The São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP-SP) decided to close the criminal investigation that was looking into a possible act of false ideological statement by members of Corinthians’ Fiscal Council during the review process of Osmar Stabile administration’s 2025 accounts. The decision was signed by prosecutor Cássio Conserino, who concluded that there was not enough evidence to establish intent on the part of the council members involved.
The investigation had been opened after questions were raised about Haroldo Dantas’ participation in a Fiscal Council (CF) meeting held before the club’s Deliberative Council voted on the accounts. Haroldo works as a lawyer for companies linked to the Corinthians president and had been subject to a precautionary removal from the body over an alleged conflict of interest.

During the investigation, however, testimony collected indicated that CF members Claudio Senise and Paulo Pimentel sought institutional guidance before the meeting took place. According to what they told the MP, both consulted Miguel Marques e Silva, president of the Advisory Council (Cori), about the validity of the precautionary removal imposed on Haroldo.
As recorded in the ruling, the Cori president stated that the Ethics Committee does not have statutory authority to unilaterally order the preventive removal of a member of the Fiscal Council. For the prosecutor, the prior consultation and the response received rule out the existence of a deliberate intention to falsify information or commit false ideological statement.
In the decision, Conserino stressed that those involved sought to clarify interpretative doubts related to the club’s statute before deciding on Haroldo’s participation in the meeting. The MP representative also pointed out that, regardless of whether the interpretation adopted was correct, the procedure followed by the council members rules out any possible criminal conduct.
The prosecutor also mentioned that Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé, responsible for ordering Haroldo’s precautionary removal, had previously taken part in a vote in favor of closing a similar administrative proceeding, a circumstance considered relevant in the analysis of the case.
Although it ruled out criminal repercussions, the MP noted that the facts may amount to a possible internal administrative irregularity, since the participation of a previously removed member could potentially compromise the regularity and legitimacy of the collegiate body’s decisions. For that reason, the material was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Public and Social Assets, which is responsible for monitoring investigations related to Corinthians, including the inquiry assessing a possible court-ordered intervention in the club.
The accounts for the 2025 fiscal year showed a deficit of R$ 143.441 million and were processed amid internal disagreements at Corinthians. While the Fiscal Council issued a favorable opinion with reservations, the Deliberative Council’s Finance Committee recommended rejecting the financial statements. Despite the atmosphere of division among the internal bodies, the accounts were ultimately approved by the club’s Deliberative Council.
