Mauritanian defender Mohamed Diop made a name for himself during his debut appearance at the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024).

The 24-year-old delivered a flawless performance in the match against Madagascar in Group A, which ended in a goalless draw (0-0).

According to statistics from sofascore, he currently leads the tournament rankings for most interceptions, racking up an impressive total of six in the continental competition.

Trained at Nouakchott King, he joined French club FCM Troyes in 2021.
In 2024, he made the return journey and rejoined his beloved club as a free agent.
