The Chelsea official website had an interesting article up today looking at the tactical rearguard action which saw the Blues defend their one goal lead against Leeds on Sunday in the FA Cup semi final.

The selection of Tosin at centre back raised some eyebrows, but in the end it suited Chelsea perfectly as they looked to defend their box.

Chelsea praise their defender for solid showing at the back

“The big centre-back registered a game-high 11 clearances and won seven of the nine duels he contested, limiting the threat posed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Tosin went up for eight headers and won the ball seven times,” their article noted.

“He also recovered possession on three occasions and when Leeds gained some momentum, Tosin and the rest of those in blue ‘dug in, fought, competed and defended our box unbelievably well’, as McFarlane put it after watching his team book a return ticket to Wembley in a few weeks’ time.”
