On a special day in his illustrious career, Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller made his 500th Bundesliga appearance as his side cruised to a 3–0 victory over Mainz on Saturday.

Reflecting on the milestone, Müller - set to leave Bayern after 25 years this summer - admitted it felt strange to have just played his penultimate home game for the Bavarian giants.

“Of course, I’m happy and I have to thank the fans. But I'm starting to realize that it was my penultimate game (at the Allianz Arena). In two weeks, it’ll be my final home game,” Müller told Sky Germany.

While he insisted he wasn’t feeling “sentimental or sad,” he admitted the moment still felt “kind of strange.”

“When you’ve played 500 Bundesliga games, naturally a lot of them were at home. Going to the stadium becomes just part of the routine… Well, next year I’ll need a ticket.”

Thomas Müller's final game at the Allianz Arena will take place in two weeks, when Bayern Munich host Borussia Mönchengladbach.
