Mundial 2026: Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad and the omissions | OneFootball

Spain have named a 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, Luis de la Fuente confirming his list with the tournament about three weeks away.

According to Superdeporte, injuries to several regulars have added unwanted suspense to selection, though Spain are again seen as serious contenders.

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, David Raya, Joan García. Defenders: Llorente, Porro, Cucurella, Grimaldo, Cubarsí, Laporte, Pubill, Eric García.

Midfielders: Rodri, Zubimendi, Pedri, Fabian, Mikel Merino, Gavi, Baena. Forwards: Ferran, Oyarzabal, Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, Olmo, Yéremy Pino, Borja Iglesias, Víctor Muñoz.

A supplementary group will train with the squad until 4 June, featuring the Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra after a strong finish to the season.

Notable absentees include Remiro, Mosquera, Le Normand, Vivian, Huijsen, Carvajal, Pau Torres, Mingueza, Moleiro, Fornals, Aleix García, Asensio, Carlos Espí, Morata, De Frutos and Toni Martínez.

Spain open their campaign on Monday 15 against Cabo Verde in Atlanta. They are in Group H with Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
