Murillo has issued a positive injury update on social media ahead of a pivotal week for Nottingham Forest.

The Brazilian missed the Reds’ matches against Sunderland and Aston Villa in the Premier League and Europa League respectively. He is also absent from this afternoon’s league trip to Chelsea.

He sustained a suspected hamstring problem in last month’s 4-1 win over Burnley. It remains unclear whether he will be fit for Thursday’s European semi-final second leg at Villa Park.

In recent days he has shared pictures from Qatar with his family and indicated a comeback may not be far away. His message said recovery was complete, he thanked those involved and added that work continues.

If he is available to face Villa this week, it would be a significant boost for the Reds. The same applies to next Sunday’s league date with Newcastle United.

Forest are fighting on two fronts. They are one game from a Europa League final yet still not safe from relegation. Before kicking off against the Blues, they were 16th, three points above the drop zone.

At Stamford Bridge, head coach Vitor Pereira has named a much-changed XI, resting several regulars. Ibrahim Sangare, Dan Ndoye and Ola Aina are not in the squad, while Jair Cunha is available after an arm injury kept him out against Villa last week. Pereira has made eight changes as he balances this fixture with Thursday’s tie.
