Former Barcelona youngster Jan Virgili has this week revealed his hope of one day securing a move back to Catalunya’s capital.
This comes after the winger departed Barca over the summer, to link up with La Liga rivals RCD Mallorca on a permanent basis.
The Blaugrana, though, still hold a special place in his heart, as confirmed by Virgili during an interview with Marca (as cited by Diario Sport):
“If one day the doors of the first team open for me, I would be delighted. It was and is my dream since always.
“If I never return to Barça, I will always have that thorn. I would have loved to make my debut with the first team, even if it was only for one day. But football doesn’t end there. Everyone has to make their way and find their place. If you do it well, the prize can come.”
Virgili for his part made the move to Son Moix in an effort to carve out regular first-team football for himself.
And the 19-year-old has since managed precisely that, to the tune of seven La Liga appearances, featuring a pair of assists.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are understood to be keeping a close eye on Virgili’s progress, having retained 50% of his playing rights, as well as a buyback clause for the future.
