Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior has faced the media this Friday afternoon during his pre-game press conference as the Alsatians kick the new year with an away Ligue 1 game to OGC Nice on Saturday. Although Rosenior was mostly asked on his personal future as he is the leading contender to land the Chelsea job following Enzo Maresca’s exit considering that Strasbourg are part of the BlueCo consortium.

The 41-year-old British head coach has responded to those links. “There is a lot of noise and gossips, but as a coach, if you get involved in them, you fail. My job is here, I love this club, but I can’t guarantee anything.” Rosenior joined Strasbourg in the summer of 2024 when he replaced Patrick Vieira. In his first full season in Ligue 1, he led Strasbourg back in Europe. Strasbourg are top of the Conference League standings.

Rosenior added that he hasn’t spoken to his Strasbourg players regarding the news that he would be the frontrunner to join Chelsea. “There’s no need, but I have had a few lighthearted jokes. We’re focused on our work. The goal is to continue doing great things here.

However, Rosenior was not as clear when he talked about his future in Strasbourg. “There’s no guarantees in life. I can’t guarantee how long I’ll be there. I enjoy myself here every day and I intend to continue doing so as long as I’m here.”

Finally, Rosenior didn’t deny he has had contacts with Chelsea, because the Blues and Strasbourg belong to the same group, BlueCo.
