It is a first for the 37-year-old, who has not previously overseen a PSG fixture.

Balakin is relatively new to the competition, this will be only his fourth Champions League game.

He served as fourth official for France’s 1-0 win over Austria at Euro 2024.

He also officiated Olympique de Marseille’s Europa League meeting with Brighton in 2023, after which the club expressed anger, feeling they had been wronged.
