Naby Keïta, it's official
It's official. Naby Keïta will not be returning to Werder Bremen. Hungarian side Ferencvárosi TC have announced they have exercised their option to sign the Guinean midfielder on a permanent deal, following his loan spell this season.
Once one of European football's brightest prospects, Keïta made his breakthrough at Salzburg before taking his game to the next level at Leipzig, a move that paved his way to Liverpool. But plagued by recurring injuries and a lack of consistency, his time at Anfield never quite lived up to expectations. After a difficult stint in Germany with Werder, the 30-year-old has rediscovered regular playing time in Hungary. In 17 appearances, he has provided 3 assists and played a key role in Ferencváros' strong campaign, with the club currently sitting second in the league.
Impressed by his contribution, the club has decided to bet on him for the long term. However, the details of the transfer and the contract duration have not been disclosed.
