Uruguayan side Nacional are in talks to sign Cristian Olivera, currently on loan at Bahia from Grêmio. According to Globo.com, they are working on a proposal to meet Grêmio’s valuation, with Bahia involved as the player is contracted there until the end of this year with an option to buy.
Olivera has not been used by Bahia and was not even on the bench for the club’s last three matches. Bahia would want financial compensation to release him early.
Grêmio turned down a bid for the forward last week. Nacional-URU offered US$ 1.5 million, roughly R$ 7.7 million, for 100% of his economic rights, and a fresh attempt is expected in the coming days.
The figure was viewed as low because Los Angeles F.C own 40% of the player and would take a share of any sale. Grêmio also owe Los Angeles F.C following the 2025 purchase for US$ 4.5 million, with about US$ 2 million, around R$ 10.2 million, still outstanding.
Olivera joined Bahia on loan in January and has made 25 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists. His contract with Grêmio runs until the end of 2027.
