Santos have included 16-year-old forward Nadson in their matchday squad to face Noroeste on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time at Alfredo de Castilho in Bauru, the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista. It is his first senior call-up and he could make his first-team debut.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Nadson Juan Maia da Silva de Souza plays mainly out wide, particularly from the left, and has been in the club’s academy since 2019. His displays at the 2026 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior raised his profile and drew interest from the coaching staff and abroad, including Barcelona.
He signed his first professional contract on four February 2025, a three-year deal with a high release clause. In 2025 he scored six goals in 33 youth appearances. He began 2026 with one goal in five Copinha outings.
Nadson joined the club at under-11 level and lost competitive action during the Covid-19 pandemic, then re-established himself in the under-13 Paulista. He helped win the 2023 Copa Votorantim under-15 title. In 2024 he was a leading figure in the under-15s, finished Paulista runners-up and stepped up to the under-17s under coach Elder Campos.
In 2025 he featured in the Copinha, then progressed to the under-20s. In August he began integrating with the seniors and was listed for Brasileiro matches, including the win at Cruzeiro at Mineirão, yet he still awaits an official debut. Centre-back João Ananias also receives a first call, giving Juan Pablo Vojvoda additional options amid first-team absences.
