Nagelsmann advises Ter Stegen to leave Barcelona

Marc-André ter Stegen is on the road to recovery from his injury, but his situation at Barcelona remains complicated. The 33-year-old German goalkeeper has lost his starting place to Wojciech Szczęsny and Joan García.

Julian Nagelsmann, head coach of the German national team, believes Ter Stegen needs regular playing time to maintain his performance for Die Mannschaft:

I spoke with Marc last week. He's doing well, and that's the main thing. In January, he needs to be playing, no matter which club. The important thing is that he gets minutes on the pitch and performs well. I believe a club will sign him, because he's an excellent goalkeeper and he's in top form.

The coach added that Germany hopes Ter Stegen will soon reclaim a starting role at club level. If not, they will have to reconsider their goalkeeper situation. Ter Stegen has 44 caps for Germany, mostly as Manuel Neuer's backup.
