Nani has come out of retirement to join FK Aktobe in Kazakhstan, taking on a dual role as player and adviser.

According to L'Équipe, the former Portugal international has signed for one season, with Aktobe finishing fifth last term and their new campaign due to begin in the coming weeks.

The 39-year-old announced his retirement in early December 2024 after a spell with Estrela Amadora in Portugal.

Capped 111 times, he scored 24 goals for his country and won the European Championship, the Champions League and the Premier League four times with Manchester United. He made 230 appearances for United between 2007 and 2014.

It remains to be seen what shape he is in as he returns to playing.
