FC Nantes are reportedly on the verge of securing the return of Patrik Carlgren (34) to the club, according to information from L’Équipe.

A free agent since leaving the Breton club at the end of June, the Swedish goalkeeper is said to be on the verge of re-signing on a one-year contract. As the understudy to Anthony Lopes (35), who has since moved to SCO Angers, last season, the Falun-born keeper kept just one clean sheet and conceded three goals in his four appearances across all competitions.

Nantes, who this summer signed Maxime Dupé (33) to be their first-choice goalkeeper and promoted the young Alexis Mirbach (21) to second choice, saw the latter suffer a serious knee injury, forcing him to be sidelined for around three months.

With a medical exemption available and keen to find an alternative to Dupé, the Canaries’ management are said to have finally re-established contact with Carlgren, who could well shake up the pecking order this time round to help the club secure an immediate return to Ligue 1.
