FC Nantes will be searching for a new goalkeeper this summer with the club set to part ways with Alban Lafont (25).
According to Télénantes Info, this search has seen the club begin discussions with Anthony Lopes (33), as the Portuguese international is free to leave Olympique Lyonnais this summer after his formative club made it clear that his time with the team was coming to an end.
They believe that Lopes is interested in a move to the Ligue 1 side but his current wage demands remain a stumbling block for Nantes. The goalkeeper is reported to earn around €400 thousand a month, a pierce that the northern club would be unable to match.
However, David Phelippeau rejects this report and suggests that there was never any negotiations between the player and the club and that it was only an idea floated by Nantes in their search to replace Lafont – an idea that was dead in the water when met with the reality of convincing Lopes to take a significant pay cut.
