Louis Leroux (19) has been a key player for a struggling FC Nantes side this season. The France youth international has played in all 12 of Les Canaris’ Ligue 1 games, scoring once and registering one assist. His availability has been crucial for Luís Castro, who has not been able to count on Francis Coquelin and Johann Lepenant due to injuries, as has his versatility, with Leroux filling in at left-back on several occasions.
However, both he and Nantes have now suffered a blow. Leroux suffered a thigh injury while on France U-21 duty last Wednesday. It meant that he was forced to leave the camp, without having played in either of Les Éspoirs’ Euros qualifiers.
Having returned to Nantes, the diagnosis is not music to Les Canaris’ ears. As per a report from Ouest-France, the midfielder could be out until the winter break, meaning that he could miss games against FC Lorient, RC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais, SCO Angers, and a Coupe de France Round of 64 tie.
